Across Montana, ranch roads and shop or barn pads may sit on gumbo east of the Continental Divide or freely draining valley gravel farther west. #2 Crushed Stone forms a heavy, angular bed for locations that need voids between the rock instead of a packed, smooth layer. The material has been washed, leaving out the fine particles that could close those voids.
At a construction entrance, install it in the rough approach where traffic brings mud toward the road. Its larger angular pieces resist being kicked aside under tires. Deep frost makes drainage and base planning important, especially where wet gumbo can soften before it freezes. Put a tighter traffic surface above this material where a smoother running course is needed.

Common Uses
Construction Entrances
At the road connection, a deep bed of large angular rock strips mud from truck tires before trucks carry it onto the roadway.
Culvert & Ditch Lining
Use large rock at culvert ends and in drainage ditches to hold material in place where runoff is strongest.
Deep Base Support
Install it as the bottom layer for ranch roads, machinery pads, and soft ground, then add smaller stone over it.
Drainage Courses
Open voids between the rocks let high water volumes move through the layer and away from the site.
Why Choose #2 Crushed Stone
Holds Its Place
Its large, weighty pieces help limit ruts and resist being pushed aside by tires.
Moves Water Quickly
Washed material without fines leaves broad voids for drainage.
Supports Weak Soil
Large angular rock carries loads across wet or unstable subgrade.
Limited Upkeep
After installation, it generally only requires an occasional top-up.
